Laura Letinsky (b. 1962, Winnipeg, Canada) is a critically acclaimed photographer whose work has significantly shaped contemporary still life and conceptual image-making. She received her BFA from the University of Manitoba and her MFA in Photography from the Yale University School of Art, and has been a Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago since 1994.
Her work has been widely exhibited internationally, with solo and group exhibitions at institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Photographers’ Gallery, the Denver Art Museum, the Musée des Beaux-Arts (Montreal and Le Locle), and the International Center of Photography, as well as major photography platforms such as PhotoEspaña and the Singapore International Photography Festival.
Her photographs are held in leading public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the J. Paul Getty Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Anonymous Was A Woman Award.
