UP Gallery at Paris Photo 2026 – Booth A09

Tue Oct 27 10:00:00 2026

UP Gallery is delighted to announce our participation in Paris Photo 2026, taking place at the Grand Palais in Paris from November 12–15, with a VIP Preview on November 11. We warmly invite you to visit us at Booth A09.

At Paris Photo 2026, UP Gallery presents Between Borders: Visual Narratives of Home, Dislocation, and Flux, bringing together three Sinophone artists—Arthur Ou, Wu Chia-Yun, and Chen Ronghui—whose practices explore the shifting boundaries between identity, displacement, and familial histories. Through distinct visual approaches, the artists examine how personal memory, historical forces, and geopolitical realities shape our understanding of home and belonging.

In Public Hall , Arthur Ou documents the demolition of his ancestral home in Taoyuan, Taiwan. Layering black-and-white photographs onto hand-painted blue tarpaulin, Ou brings intimate family history into dialogue with the visual language of public space, reflecting on the fragility of memory amid physical and social transformation.

Following the critical attention garnered by Chen Ronghui’s Modern Shanghai series, UP Gallery presents three previously unseen works alongside the key image from his latest monograph. Capturing the tensions and ambiguities of urban life, Chen’s photographs reveal a city caught between competing temporalities, social aspirations, and the ongoing transformations of contemporary China.

Wu Chia-Yun’s Borderless Place, developed during her residency in Nida, Lithuania, and recently presented at the Taiwan Biennial, considers the meaning of borders against the backdrop of the Russia–Ukraine war. Moving between the Curonian Lagoon and the Taiwan Strait, Wu juxtaposes the political boundaries imposed on human communities with the seemingly borderless movements of animals, questioning how territory, nationhood, and belonging are defined.

Together, these works trace the entanglements of memory, history, and shifting identities across both visible and invisible borders. Rather than treating home as a fixed place or identity as a stable condition, Between Borders approaches them as fluid and contested constructs—continually reshaped by displacement, collective memory, and the forces of change.
