UP Gallery extends its sincere gratitude to the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts for this collaboration, and to everyone who joined us for the joint opening of Anastasia Samoylova: The Climate of Images, the first institutional solo exhibition in Asia by American artist Anastasia Samoylova.

Co-curated by Jims Lam and Agnes Liao, the exhibition brings together several of Samoylova’s major photographic series, spanning urban landscapes, consumer culture, and everyday visual imagery to environmental change and the climate crisis. Through her photographic practice, Samoylova examines how images shape our perceptions of place, environment, and society.

In Samoylova’s work, visually captivating scenes often coexist with underlying tensions and unease. Through her attentive observations of the world around us, she reveals the complex relationships between images, society, and the environment, inviting viewers to reconsider how images influence our understanding of reality and our place within it.

We warmly invite you to visit the exhibition at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts. Through Samoylova’s layered imagery, rediscover the familiar world, explore the tensions between images and reality, and reflect on how we perceive an ever-changing environment.
