A Conversation Between Ashes and a Pebble officially opened last Saturday! We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us. The opening was filled with vibrant dialogue, offering a unique opportunity to hear artist Jess LAU Ching-wa share her creative journey and the intricate layers of her practice.

This exhibition marks Lau’s first solo presentation at UP Gallery following her prestigious Terayama Shūji Prize at the 2025 Image Forum Festival in Japan. Featuring her signature “cave-wall animation” alongside a newly premiered walking video work, the exhibition demonstrates how Lau transforms repetitive manual labor into the temporal weight of the image.
